8 new COVID-19 deaths in Wisconsin as global toll surpasses 3 million
MADISON, Wis. — The Department of Health Services reported eight new deaths in Wisconsin as the world total of Covid-related deaths surpassed 3 million Saturday.
The total number of deaths due to Covid Complications in Wisconsin is now 6,711. Another 61 people were admitted to the hospital Saturday.
Health officials confirmed 727 new cases Saturday, an increase from Friday’s case count of 709. The seven-day average stayed at 3.6%.
The state has reached a lifetime total of 589,940 active cases. On Saturday 9,147 of those cases are still active.
The DHS says a total of 3,807,771 vaccine doses have been administered in Wisconsin. The site could not update the vaccination numbers on Friday due to technical difficulties. They have administered 63,698 new doses since Thursday.
More than 2.3 million people have received at least one dose of the vaccine, nearly 40% of the total population.
According to officials 1,569,321 Wisconsinites have now been fully vaccinated.
