Yeahhhhh, rubber mallet in a basement wall. Whoopsie!!!
“Hey, any of you guys seen my tape measurer around?”
I was putting in a fence about 10 years ago and literally the very first post I went to concrete in became steel reinforced with the knife I used to cut open the bag of concrete. Happily not an expensive knife, but it was brand new.
“For only when the one and true enginer will arrive and be able to pull the measuring tape from the concrete wall”
I’ve seen this in Calgary
I’m just glad they sell them in 12 packs. Lose one once a week, at least.
Damn concrete pillars, solidifying out of NOWHERE.
I left a brand new 16 oz Estwing hammer in a ceiling in League city TX
I left a brand new pair of channel locks on the top supporting beams of an aircraft hangar one time. Military base. Don’t think they’ll grant me access to grab them 🙁
At least it doesn’t still have fingers wrapped around it.
I used to hang sheetrock for a living. There’s at least a couple dozen houses all over the state of California that have various tools hidden behind their walls.

Zoom in on the middle of the second pic
I think you have massively overestimated the amount of people who pour concrete
Ah yes, the infamous “load bearing” tape measure.
There is a reason why I avoid wet cement like it would attack me. Too many stories about asphalt over your wallet ect
This tape went viral in my city last year and i loved it. No one knows if it was accidental or on purpose.
This has never happened to me…
doesnt seem like a common thing?
this is actually the Kitty Pryde of tape measures, she’s just resting
It’s a fossil now boys
Shout out to Calgary for this hidden gem haha
Hoffa?
I don’t think the slump and air meter took into account tape measures in the pour lmao
Not this but a flashlight. Redline made thee perfect flashlight for in my opinion, for after hours road calls. I bought it for 50 from nappa and somehow immediately lost it in a week.
On the plus side 3 months later a semi I worked on rolled into the shop. My flashlights magnet held it to the frame for 40k miles.
Amazing right? Lost the fucker again a week later.
Now I’m wondering how many sets of keys, wallets, tools and other items are within the concrete of our modern world.
The accidental additions to a building’s structure.
There was an air raid shelter behind my house that supposedly had a guy entombed in its walls. Fell into the form and never resurfaced.
This has never happened to me.
“Next time on Engineering Catastrophes! A thirty year old mistake spells disaster!!”
this has never happened to me
Nothing that a little concrete colored spray paint can’t solve
That’s a 25 dollar tape, score!
I remember this happened to a guy my brother worked with, his first day on the job and he loses the keys to his brand new audi A6 into the concrete
Happed at one of my job site but with a water bottle
The true measure of man is cemented in times like these.
Damnit you found it, you’ll never guess where I hid the stepladder tho
Never happened with me
Something about this doesn’t measure up.
Fat Max down
Happened to me, only it was a hammer.
My poor hammer… Twice… In 3 weeks
That could be mine. Kalamazoo, mi?
/r/wellthatstucks
Some people draw their initials and/or date in the concrete, other leave tools
That’s not a well thats sucks… that’s a wall that steals tape measures.
This is in my city a few blocks from my apartment. It’s hilarious.
I have a ruler under a floor I installed 3 years ago if that counts.
Jimmy? Jimmy Hoffa? Is that youuu??
eS, , c
This is from a public bench in downtown Calgary AB https://www.reddit.com/r/Calgary/comments/hoi0vh/anyone_missing_their_tape_measure/
Carpenter here. Soooo many tools have been lost in the pour. Mostly on purpose, mostly.
