I’m a kindergarten teacher and you nailed it. The feels are real.
I was once called grandpa. When I was 27 years old. I’m a woman. It’s a fond memory.
I did this in 5th grade with my male teacher. Everyone got a good chuckle and I still want to die 20 years later.
I did this. In 8th grade. Never fully recovered
I remember a kid in my class in 1st Grade calling the teacher both Mum AND Dad before saying the right thing
As a teacher I always take it as the biggest compliment a child could give me. My own children have done this with their teachers and it makes me happy they have strong bonds with their educators.
The teacher is just happy you didn’t call her “grandma”.
My dad was my teacher in 1st and 4th grade and I had to remind myself not to call him “dad” at school
Happend to me too… I got a hug out of it. Little did I know this will be one of my last.
I almost kissed my teacher once when I was 10/11.. I’m glad I was moving schools that year..
As a teacher I can say this is very true!
I accidentally called my male teacher mum in first grade. Only one or two people noticed and laughed at me but I was so embarrassed, I still remember it to this day. It is very reassuring to know that many other people did this too lol
My father in law was talking about this the other day. He’s retired but was a career primary/elementary school teacher. He said it was great when the kids slipped and called him dad because it showed that they felt very comfortable with him.
Bonus – my mother in law was a teacher too and one day did an emergency substitute for my husband’s class. He was 5 and unsure what to call her so he called her ‘Mrs Mummy’. So cute!
Lol aww
I once accidentally in primary school called my female teacher dad, I’m still mortified
My mom was a substitute teacher for my elementary school. I definitely always called her mom when I had her in class. Also would sometimes come in to find her sitting there if she got the call after I got on the bus
Tbh i feel like one of the best compliments for a teacher is calling them mom or dad lmfao
There was an entire Recess episode where Spinelli accidentally called Miss Grotke “mama” in front of the whole playground.
It’s wholesome except for when it’s the opposite. My name is Molly and I’ve had a male teacher call me Mommy in front of the class.
I have a whole bunch of fourth graders that call me mom when they come to my room or see me in the hall. I love them all. So much so that I keep snacks in my desk drawer because several of them will stop by my room and ask “mom, do you have snacks??” So I need to be prepared.
Though one of them asked me if I had a boyfriend and when I said no he was distraught that he may be adopted.
If it makes anyone feel better, I accidentally sent my office manager pictures of wedding clothes. 😳
“Step-mum”
I did this in third grade with my female teacher
Today I called my fiance(male) mum
I was picking my friend’s kids up from school the other day and was wearing a mask. 2 kids I didn’t know ran up and hugged me while screaming “mommy!” And in that moment my overies exploded.
There are two types of teachers, and I saw both of them in my time at school. There’s the teacher who is absolutely honoured and thinks it’s endearing that you see them like that.
Then there’s the teacher who is kinda hostile towards the idea. A mate of mine called a female teacher mum and she yelled “Do I look old enough to be your mum???”
I accidentally called my teacher Misty because I was reading a Pokémon book
He is your mother now, you have no choice
That’s so relatable! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
I was doing this in gr 7 and for like a week in gr 9 when I was super stressed out. For backstory I didn’t learn to read until gr 7 and had pretty bad writing in gr 9 so I wouldn’t read cursive and I didn’t wanna tell my friends to I put my hand up but the teacher looked away so I was like mum! And everyone looked at me and so I played it cool and was like umm! I can’t read cursive and my friend was like I could have sworn you said mom and I just nodded as I slowly died inside. I had to have done it like 30 times that week
That’s so relatable
That’s so relatable ha ha ha haha ha!
