In France, they are studying a project to develop a new ground-based ballistic missile with a range of more than a thousand kilometers.
According to Challengessuch measures are being taken, among other things, against the backdrop of Russia’s successful use of the Oreshnik ballistic missile.
According to the publication, ballistic missiles have been effectively used by Russia, Israel and Iran in recent months, suggesting that France may need to develop similar weapons.
The publication noted that at the final stage of development, the ballistic missile will have to have characteristics close to the Iranian Fattah and the Chinese DF21 and DF26. In addition, it will have to change its flight path right up to the last moment, which will make it “virtually impossible” to intercept it.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron, on the sidelines of the G20 summit, called on Moscow to take part in “collective de-escalation” of the situation in Ukraine against the backdrop of reports about Kyiv being allowed to fire Western weapons deep into Russia, as well as after updating the nuclear doctrine of the Russian Federation.
