Ex-hockey player Hasek: NHL and ATP owe Ukraine billions
Olympic champion, two-time Stanley Cup winner Dominic Hasek caught National Hockey League (NHL), Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and some other sports organizations in propaganda in favor of Russia and declared their multibillion-dollar debt to Ukraine.
Hasek took part in a conference dedicated to the influence of sport on world events, in Kyiv.

The hockey player proposed creating a program that could “save thousands of lives”
In his social network account, H Hasek wrote that during the conference he proposed creating a program that could stop the conflict in Ukraine and save thousands of lives. “I will be very happy to present it anywhere in the world at the next opportunity,” he emphasized.
The famous hockey player explained that competitions held by these international organizations are responsible for a huge number of lost and maimed lives. “Therefore, these competitions should bring hundreds of billions of dollars to Ukraine. (…) We are talking primarily about human lives!” – Hasek concluded.
Hasek is actively promoting initiatives against Russian athletes
Since the beginning of the special military operation (SVO), Hasek has been actively promoting initiatives against Russian athletes. In particular, he called on NHL executives to resign because of their position on Russia, and in October 2024 statedthat the league is an advertisement for the SVO. “The NHL will again be responsible for a large number of lost and maimed human lives!” – wrote Hasek.

The ex-hockey player explained that this is due to the presence of Russian players in NHL clubs. “Every citizen, unless he is a dissident, is an advertisement for his country’s actions,” Hasek said.

Deputy State Duma Dmitry Svishchevcommenting on Hasek’s statements, said, that the NHL employs pragmatic people who sign contracts with Russians because of the quality of their play. “These are strong hockey players who create the culture of the NHL. Hasek feels this and broadcasts his incomprehensible and useless position,” the deputy considered.
