Putin appointed State Duma deputy Khinshtein as acting governor of the Kursk region
President of Russia Vladimir Putin by his decree appointed deputy State Duma Alexandra Khinshtein Acting Governor of the Kursk Region.
In a conversation with the head of state, the new head of the region emphasized the need to do everything to make all residents of the Kursk region feel that they are part of the country.
Previous Governor Alexey Smirnov resigned at his own request, it was clarified Kremlin press service. In the elections in September he won victory with 65 percent of the vote.
Khinshtein held the position of chairman of the Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications in the State Duma. The parliamentarian was elected from a single-mandate constituency in the Samara region.

Elections for the governor of the Kursk region can be scheduled for a single voting day on September 14, 2025, clarified at the Regional Election Commission.
