Lukashenko's request, missile system power: Belarus: Former USSR: Lenta.ru

President of Russia Vladimir Putin named possible placement of the Oreshnik missile system on the territory Belarus in the second half of 2025 as rocket production increases. The Russian leader stated this following a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State.

Missile system in Belarus will be included to the complex Strategic Missile Forces Russian Armed Forces. Nevertheless, the determination of Oreshnik’s goals will remain up to Minsk.

“The determination of targets on the territory of a potential enemy will, of course, remain with the military-political leadership of the Republic of Belarus. This is an obvious thing,” the president emphasized.

In addition, before deployment, specialists need to determine the minimum range of the complexes, taking into account the security priorities of Belarus. It is noted that the missile systems will enter service with the Russian army and Belarus in parallel.

Lukashenko asked Putin to place Oreshnik in Belarus

On the deployment of new weapons systems on the territory of Belarus, including Oreshnik, Putin asked president of the republic Alexander Lukashenko.

According to him, this would strengthen the defense of both the Union State in the face of an increasing threat from the West, and the territory of Belarus. Lukashenko notedthat the republic is concerned about the situation in Western Europe, especially near the Belarusian borders Poland And Lithuania.

“Poland spends enormous resources on arming its army. If they want to live in peace with us, as they say, then why spend billions of dollars on weapons?” – the president asked himself.

In this regard, Lukashenko turned to Putin with a request to place Oreshnik on the territory of Belarus. He is convinced that this “would seriously calm some “minds” who are already ready to fight against Belarus.”

Russia used Oreshnik on November 21

On November 21, Russian troops used Oreshnik for the first time.
