Party of Socialists of Moldova demanded convene an emergency government meeting with the participation of representatives of Moldovagaz due to Gazprom’s decision. Party head Igor Dodon stated that it is necessary to investigate the cause of the accumulated debts and bring those responsible to justice. He also called for a return to dialogue with Russia to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe.

Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Recean, commenting on Gazprom’s statement, saidthat Chisinau can apply to international arbitration to protect national interests and seek compensation in connection with decisions Moscow. According to him, restricting gas supplies threatens the safety of Moldovan citizens and may lead to economic losses.
