**Push to open**
If that doesn’t work
**Pull to open**
If that doesn’t work either
**We’re closed** -
You just know they’ve been watching people shake this door forever despite a normal “not an entrance” sign.

Actually, if you don’t know which direction to open a door, the most energy efficient method is to pull first.
If pulling doesn’t work, then you can use the energy from your pull to pull you towards the door and use that force to push it open. You can do this all in one fluid motion too, so it won’t look like a total accident.
