The coach of the Russian cross-country skiing team, Yegor Sorin, expressed the opinion that Savely Korostelev lacks the stability to regularly demonstrate high results.
“Savely has not fully matured in terms of stability, and this, in turn, is due to the lack of experience in long-term performances. I know for sure that in terms of his physical characteristics when approaching specific competitions, Korostelev can really be the best in Russia. But he lacks this stability from start to start a little. This year, for example, he had a lot of force majeure circumstances: a broken pole, a fastening,” Sorin said in an interview with RT.
According to him, these problems could be called a coincidence, but in fact this indicates the athlete’s lack of experience.
“I have never seen Johannes Klebo’s poles break or the fastenings fail. This means that somewhere we overlooked something, together with the service, with the athlete himself, and did not provide for the little things. There was a not entirely correct tactical passage of the distance at the Top of Teya, when Savely took all the bonus cutoffs in the mass-tart, and came seventh at the finish line. It so happened that I was not at that race, and then they told me that there was no one to advise,” added Sorin.
It was previously reported that Korostelev won in the Champions Race qualification.
