Chairman of the South Korean Parliament Woo Won-sik declared the martial law regime in the country invalid. The TV channel reports this YTN.

The National Assembly (Parliament) of South Korea held a plenary session and adopted a resolution demanding the lifting of martial law. The document on the abolition of martial law was adopted by 190 out of 190 votes.

The Speaker of Parliament said the President should immediately lift martial law in accordance with the National Assembly resolution. He also demanded that the military and police immediately leave the parliament building.

Woo Won Sik expressed hope that people will feel safe and that the National Assembly will continue to work to protect democracy.

Formerly the leader of South Korea’s ruling People Power Party, Han Don Hung called military personnel of the South Korean army did not comply with the imposed martial law. He called the introduction of martial law wrong and promised to block it “together with the people.”
