Committee member State Duma on labor, social policy and veterans’ affairs Svetlana Bessarab told on the procedure for indexing pensions in 2025. According to her, regular cash payments to Russians will be increased by 14.72 percent.

Indexation will occur from April 1 of the coming calendar year. For those recipients of social pensions whose incomes do not reach the subsistence level, an additional payment will necessarily allow them to achieve this minimum. “The living wage of a pensioner will be provided to everyone without exception,” the deputy promised.

How will pensions be indexed in 2025?

Associate Professor of the Department of Labor and Social Law of St. Petersburg State University Fatima Nogailieva explained the procedure for indexing insurance and social pensions in the coming year.

She noted that indexation for these categories of pensioners will be the largest. Social pensions and state pension payments will be indexed by a record 14.5 percent. Russians who have not accumulated sufficient experience, disabled people, those who have lost their breadwinner and some other categories of citizens have the right to a social pension.

Indexation of insurance pensions will be 7.3 percent – according to the inflation rate for 2024. It will happen on January 1, 2025.

Besides, Social Fund will resume indexation of pensions for working pensioners on the same basis as non-working pensioners. All missed indexations since 2016 will be added to the pension as of December 2024, if the Russian has such a right. But pensioners will receive the indexation amount only after completing their working career, the lawyer clarified.

Sobyanin announced the indexation of pensions in Moscow

Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin toldthat from January 1, 2025, social payments to residents of the capital will be indexed by 5.5 percent. Thus, the minimum monthly pension with city supplement will be 25,850 rubles.

Indexation will also affect large families, those raising children with disabilities, and adoptive parents. In addition, payments will increase for participants in the Great Patriotic War, Heroes of Labor, Heroes of the Soviet Union, Heroes of Russia and some other holders of state awards, as well as their parents and widows.

Centenarians and marital anniversaries will also receive an indexed lump sum payment.
